ABS / ESP sensor light back on

Featured Replies

I’ve just had a rear offside wheel sensor replaced and the ABS and ESO warning lights have come on again after exactly one week. I heard a short boi-oing / almost whirring noise once when braking, thought it strange but nothing showed up. I’ve heard the sound before the sensor was replaced.
Parked for a short time then when I got back in and turned on the engine both lights were on and they stayed on. This was happening for a while but then they would disappear, so my garage advised me to replace the sensor (which they had isolated to the rear offside). What else could be going on?

sorry that should be ESP warning light

AFAIK ESP  is an extension and relies on ABS sensors and system.

Need, again to see if/which sensor channel is indicated and, if the same one, swap a sensor or perhaps it's a wiring fault requiring load testing back to ECU or ABS unit?

Perhaps this gives some hints from maybe 8 min:

Thank you. Looks like I need to take it back to the garage for a second look

You could check the problem yourself using FORScan. It sounds like the garage have either misdiagnosed the problem or they have not used a genuine Ford replacement wheel sensor.

I took it in for them to look into and it’s the other rear wheel now (near side). Annoyingly the warning lights have now vanished but it’s having a replacement sensor next week just to be sure. I should say, it’s quite old now, 2008. Has done me very well all this time but starting to cost a bit now. Thanks for your input
