Burning smell and smoke coming from air vent

Featured Replies

I have a 2015 ford fiesta and when I turn on the hazard lights, there is a burning smell and a little smoke coming from the far passenger air vent. Is this a electrical fault? The hazards work, but I turned them off as soon this happened. All my other lights are fine and I have driven it without any problems.

Obviously need to be investigated urgently due to fire risk?
If it's just hazard lights that do this I ASSUME that function is built in to BCM which (on S-MAX) is under passenger glove box area (yours may differ but hopefully someone else can advise or correct?

Yes, investigate immediately before the car goes boom!

I paid a garage to have a look at the car and they found nothing. They checked the electrics etc.

Now my interior lights don't work including the boot light. Not sure if it's a fuse. Anyone know where the fuse is located and what type I would need?

I'm not sure if the lights and the smoke are a related issue or not.

Thanks.

There isn't a fuse for the interior lights, they are controlled by the BCM, which is probably what you smelt burning.

What will it need a new bcm body control module? Is it something that you can do yourself?
