Throttle pedal replaced and diagnostic ripped off

Featured Replies

My partners car would start only crank thi ki g OT was a fuel pump issue. I had it taken to.macanic who said it was a throttle pedal.and sensor and replaced it without contacting my Mrs first so we could make the decision as if to keep the vehicle.or not to which they proceeded with what they wanted to do without confiding in us first .Further more hitting Her with $1151.70  is this a joke or have they just ripped her off being a female customer .

I looked up genuine parts Ford here and it is $332.25 for the genuine parts . LABOUR WAS $150

           LABOUR DIANOSTIC SCAN                $110

          LABOUR MACHANICAL

            $137

SO IF THE PART WAS $332.25 why $891.

This isn't unheard of!

CAR: Cash Always Required 😉

Assume you were given a bill which should detail their charge breakdown (part price from them not stated but bill already $729)?

They may add a mark up on rip off parts (ouch!)

You can ask them to justify but if it is paid it will be hard to get an adjustment unless it was paid "under protest" so you could get the car back.

Going ahead with the repair without consent is also poor practise although again, not unheard of?

Make a written complaint to the company?

Do you have Better Business Bureau, trade association or some "Citizens Advice" that can advise where you are?

Bad review on Google etc, tell your mates to avoid, picket their garage!
