Help Fix frozen Focus mk4 (2020) front passenger door latch

Featured Replies

Hey people. I have this problem with my 2020 Focus mk4. If opened - front passenger door doesn't close shut (latch doesn't catch on) in freezing temperatures and only after good 15 minutes closes fully after thawing out. Need to secure it with safety belt or else it would fly open during turns. I just avoid opening it now in the freezing temperatures. Wondering maybe it's possible to disassemble it and clean it out. I have a suspicion that water is somehow trapped somewhere in (probably) weirdly designed latch mechanism and it freezes the latch. I noticed that this is somewhat common issue for Focus owners. Has somebody tried fixing this issue? My mechanic doesn't want to start searching for solutions because he says it's going to take a lot of labor (at least 200eur just in labor) for him to begin looking.
