Almost stalling at idle

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I'm brand new to the forum, and joined to ask this primarily.

I have a 2009 mk4 2.0L petrol mondeo. Had it just over 6 years and to be fair it's been brilliant so far. Apart from it being a bit thirsty! It has just over 70K on the clock. Recently, idling has become a bit rough, with revs dropping low and almost stalling at times. I've just taken the throttle body and tmap sensor off and cleaned both, did the ignition on for 1 min and then took it for a spin. Parked back up on the drive and idle is the same.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could it be ignition related? I did change the spark plugs when I bought it, so a few years ago, but there are no misfires when driving.

I don't really use it for long runs. Just 5 miles to work and back mostly. With the odd fishing trip, which gives it a good run a couple of times a year. Just to add, I have the swirl flap controller changed recently as well, I was getting rough acceleration at low revs.

Any advice is much appreciated.

😂 Was aking for that one. That set have done 20K tops though and there's not misfiring. You think this could be the cause?
