MK3 Water Leak.. Could water get from the back to the front?

Featured Replies

After finally drying out my 2016 MK3 ST from a passenger side windscreen leak last year, the tell-tell condensation has re-appeared.

I initially dismissed this being a side effect of the winter, but I then found a puddle under the rear seats, and then the boot.. And finally the rear AND front front foot well.

I am 99% sure I am suffering with a cracked seal at the top of the tailgate and perhaps in the roof channel so have some Tiger Seal ready to go to patch it up (just want some warmer weather), and this would certainly explain the water in the rear.

But could this also explain the water in the front? Or is that likely to be a different leak? Can water move between the rear to front foot wells? The raised area under the drivers seat seems to indicate that the front and real wells 2 isolated 'tubs'.. But are they actually joined.

It would really make my day to find out that I only have a rear leak.. If this is the case, I am going to patch up all of the known sources of water (i.e the rear lights, the air vents behind the bumper, etc)

Thanks in advance for anyones thoughts

Jon
