FORD SMAX 2010 petrol keep blowing f11 fuse

Featured Replies

F11 keep blowing fuse Ive tried disconnecting the air mass sensor, camshaft sensor, and EVAP sensor, but the fuse is still blowing. I also checked the PCM wiring, and everything looks fine. I cant find the fault. The gearbox was recently replaced on this car. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Did the fuse blow before the gearbox work was done (no details of vehicle, need more details, assume petrol)?

What size was existing fuse to delete other rows in your fuse table?

Auto or manual?

Are you seeing any other faults?

You have disconnected some components but obviously not the one that is causing the fuse to blow?
Are there any fault codes?

I suspect this is just an AI bot on it's first unsupervised outing. 🤣

"Euro Motor" has only made two posts and the vehicle has changed.

Thanks for replying! Im new to this forum, so I apologize if I missed any important details.

Before changing the gearbox, the car was running fine. The fuse is 10A, and the car is a 1.6L petrol automatic. Im getting the following fault codes: P0101, P0458, P0245, P2090, and P2088. The codes can be cleared, but they return as soon as I start the engine, and the steering becomes heavy. I suspected the alternator, but I measured 15.5V with a multimeter. The codes indicate a short to ground, so I cleaned all the ground connections, brushed them, and also disconnected the camshaft sensors. However, I couldnt find any plug for a turbo.

Im new to this forum, so sorry if I made it seem like I dont know what Im doing. Im actually an electrician, but Im stuck dealing with some crappy Ford issues with weird faults. Not many experts around here who can spot the problem right away, but hopefully, someone had the same headache before.🥹

If your questions are related to a 2010  Ford S-Max 1.6 petrol, automatic then you need to be asking questions in the S-Max forum.

https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/forum/24-ford-s-max-club/

and if your questions are related to a 2020 Ford Transit Custom 1.0 EcoBoost then you need to be asking questions in the Transit forum.

After this post, suggest adding correct vehicle and other details to your profile (possible to be working on more than one, of course) then copying the salient data into a new post in the correct vehicle forum and clearly stating that this thread is closed  (this will meet forum requirements)

Was the loom damaged when the gearbox was changed - look for signs of that?

The most crucial code I see is the P0290 clearly stating a short to ground which may be affecting other things:

Must find that/those connectors and wiring path for rubbed cables in the loom and test for the short (there may be devices that can guide you to that?)

P0290 cylinder 10 doesn't make much sense, nor does P2088 at the moment?

Otherwise, voltage on the system either due to the short or battery issue (you'll know the difficulty of long distance diagnosis!)

Yes, P2088 for A and B indicates a camshaft actuator problem, and Im also seeing P2090 which also indicate camshaft actuator . Ive already disconnected both camshaft actuators, but the issue remains. I checked underneath and didnt see a sensor for the turbo solenoid valve. Ill double-check it tomorrow or the day after.

From what Ive observed so far, there s no visible damage to the connectors or wiring looms near the gearbox. Since the wiring runs up to the gearbox, there shouldnt be an easy way for it to get damaged. That said, I’ll take another look just to be sure.and change battery to see anything changes.

Thanks for your response! I’ll also post this in the appropriate forum.
