My ford focus has been away for 4 weeks in the garage

They have changed the tyres at the front

Changed the track rod ends

Changed the oil and done a flush

Said they have updated my software on the car to 2025

When it's been in the knocking noise I head when then car was purchased and they have said my gearbox is gone

And there going to put a reconditioned one in and change the clutch

Is there anything I should be worried about while a reconditioned one gets used the cars only done 46500 miles

It's been a problem car since I've purchased it

With diffrent malfunctions

The finance company abandoned me in Dec as I was in contact with the garage but now the gearbox is faulty they have took a intrest

He basically said they dropped me because I put 10k on the car and had more of a intest in it

I don't know much about your car or cars in general but if they did an engine flush and you have a wet oil belt, I don't think I'd risk running the car much longer anyway

1.5 diesel (EcoBlue) doesn't have a wetbelt.  Though I wouldn't think there's any benefit to flushing a modern engine at 5 years old/46k miles.  Perhaps they thought the noise was caused by a sticky lifter.

To answer the question - make sure you get proof of warranty with the reconditioned gearbox.  Some reconditioners are better than others.  There's way of knowing until it's fitted and you drive the car.  Warranty just gives you the peace of mind that if it does fail within 12 months then the costs will be covered.

Scotia don't seem to have a good reputation.  I hope they're aware that the 2.0 version of this engine should never be flushed if they report on any of those.

I'm very dubious of Trustpilot reviews. I've looked at them for various companies in several fields and you seem to get very wide variations: 5 stars or 1 star, not much in between. Don't know about Scotia, but a lot of businesses nowadays are actually franchise operations and some franchisees are great, others aren't.

The Mk4 Focus came with 2 diesel engines.  1.5 and 2.0 capacity.  The 2.0 uses wetbelts (belts in oil) and those belts would be damaged by engine flush.  The 1.5 does not use wetbelts so it does not matter for your car.

I agree that getting shot is the best option for this car, sounds like a constant source of problems.
