Ok peeps, on my never ending quest to sve a few bucks i came across this, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004728476925.html . My question is, is this a knock off or the genuine article ? you cant really say nowadays since the majority of stuff comes from the PRC. Ive been reading some reviews forom peeps that bought the item on Amazon and they turned out to be fakes ! Who can you trust nowadays?

AliExpress.

A very trust worthy and reliable company. Known for their truthfulness and reliability in supplying genuine quality goods at a bargain basement price. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Have you had a look on the Temu website ? 🤔

Who knows. You can buy direct from the manufacturer in America, I'm not sure of the price though.

If you want to save money and get something genuine then you can buy a vLinker FS from BM Diagnostics who were the vLinker official distributer the last time I checked for £36.

I think that dropping them is just temporary until the find a fix for the problem on some Laptops.

Thats the problem im facing, i dont have any USB 2 ports on my one so im reluctant to buy a cable that could possibly not work. It may well work fine, but i cant know if it will or not. If it did id buy one in a heart beat.

not having 18V FEPS support seems to be the main reason the ODBLink EX cable is no longer cable of the month for molesting fords

from what I have read and loosely understood - seems only last year, after lots of time and painful effort trying to un-brick modules, forscan realised that programming modules at least as far back as to 2007 Focus' needs a fake it 18V signal to make the programming run smoothly

Just asked BM Diag and they dont know if the vLinker FS will work through a Thunerbolt USB C connector. Im very tempted to get one and see how i get on.

should, thunderbolt was only built to provide a backdoor feature certain agencies mandated for naughty people to retrieve data from your laptop when turned-off and I believe even when encrypted - other than that feature its just a USB socket

Dell had a patch late in 2024 for more fun and games they'd found and now a firmware update for affected devices - Intel Thunderbolt Controller Firmware Update Utility

This package contains the Intel Thunderbolt firmware update. The Thunderbolt firmware allows operating system to access the Thunderbolt Controller. This update addresses the Dell Security Advisories (DSA). A security advisory is a statement when a security vulnerability impacts a product, and a remedy is available for the vulnerability.
Version - 4.62.156.007, A03

Release date - 06 Feb 2025

Importance -Critical

below the name given when third parties spilt the beans and told the world how sick it really is - its since been patched - if you bother to install  -
