Hybrid stop start sound

Hi everyone, 

I've just recently bought a 2023 focus hybrid automatic.

Half the time after I start the car when the stop start has kicked in, it is utterly silent and pretty much starts up and starts going like an electric car. However, the other half of the time, there is a really loud 'clunk' noise when the car starts again. It almost sounds like a metallic sound of something hitting something else - it's hard to describe. 

It's about 50/50 whether it's totally silent or has this sound, and I can't really figure out a pattern of when it does it or not.

Does anyone have any ideas what this is - is it just a normal sound this sort of car makes, or should I be concerned that there is an issue?

    Your car shouldn't be able to move in EV mode at all, you are only Mild hybrid (MHEV)

    This sounds like a clutch engagement issue on the transmission, get it checked ASAP
