2012 1.6tdci vacuum leak

Featured Replies

Morning all, does anyone have a diagram of the vacuum system on a focus 1.6tdci? My engine is running with a lot of vibration - not the flywheel, but I can hear air sucking from the back of the engine, but do you think I can find from where!

Thanks in advance

There are vac pipe diagrams on catcar but they're not easy to follow in all honesty.  The website seems to be down this morning anyway.

The main vac actuator behind the engine is for the EGR cooler bypass valve.  There's also a small solenoid underneath it.

I assume the brake servo still works fine so that pipe can be ruled out?

Brakes are fine yes, there is a carbon smell in and around the car whilst it’s running and you can hear the vacuum sucking whilst it’s running. Coming from somewhere around the inlet manifold

The site is back up now, here's the diagram...

Looks like it is just the turbo actuator on the side and the EGR cooler bypass around the back that use vacuum.

It's possible the plastic inlet manifold has split but you'd be losing boost if that was the case and I'd expect it to be in limp mode with EML on.

Perhaps one of the EGR gaskets are leaking.  Or the oil breather pipe.
