Ford Focus Gear Problem

Featured Replies

Hi, I recently purchased a ford focus 2020 1L this is my first car so I don’t really have much experience or knowledge of cars there fore I am writing to this form.
I recently was driving home from work and I stopped outside my house and tried to pull into my drive way in first gear. However as soon as I put my car into first gear and lifted my clutch to the bite point it bounce back into neutral, the car was allowing me to reverse fine and go into any other gear fine (apart from first gear). I eventually left the car for a few minutes and tried again, the car went into first gear and drove however it felt like it was catching something as I was putting it into gear.

I haven’t tried to drive it yet as I am scared of doing any damage to my car, I guess the main question I am asking is, should I be worried and get the car checked at my house, or should I try drive it to a garage.

Thank you. 👍

You can drive it to the garage if it's nearby, just pull away in 2nd gear if you have to, using more revs before the bite point.

If it's a fault with the gearbox then the damage is already done anyway.
