carplay and sync question

Featured Replies

Hi all you tech bods..

If I connect my iphone so it runs carplay on my motor, it overtakes my ‘normal’ display as expected. BUT, then I can’t see what radio station is playing. If i am out and about and want to change radio stations, how do I do this without having disconnecting my iphone to effectively disable Carplay?

No takers in this? my car system is Sync3, forgot to mention this.

An American site suggests using ‘split screen’ mode but that seems to be a much newer Ford car audio system. I can’t find this in Sync 3.

What's an iPhone ? 🤣

You have to press the "Ford" icon (or Sync, can't remember) on Carplay to go back into Sync, then change station, then go back into Carplay

I don't use this stuff but Iirc from what I've seen on You Tube it's a Ford logo with "SYNC" below.

Many thanks guys, that worked. Only silly thing is…I can’t get Siri to  select this button (Ford), (it only shows up if I press the ‘apps’ button in carplay mode),I have to touch the screen to select it, then touch the ‘restore carplay’ area on the screen to get back. Anyway, it is better than disconnecting the carplay lead while driving.

Or install the radioplayer app and listen to the radio and control it through that, if you have enough data

Thanks for that Dave…however, I often drive in areas that have weak phone signal, so I loose streaming and so the radio plus I  was using Tomtom navigation and that froze too! Happened today. Never loose the normal DAB radio signal nor the Sync3 navigation in these areas. Also Carplay won’t give me directions in voice, only onscreen stuff but I don’t look at that while driving. Using my iphone disconnected, I get voice directions, so why won’t Carplay do the same?
