Negative battery terminal

Was wondering if anybody can help I've got the parts to change the negative lead terminal on my car but it's different than what is on my car.

All the YouTube vids are of the new easy connection not my original

    From that photo, I personally, can't see how the terminal is fixed (is there a nut and bolt at the obscured end)?
    Presumably (more photos needed) you have a new terminal for the battery, with lead attached that will need to go down to the body "Earth" connection?

    And why is it needed?
