Drivers Heated Seat not working

Featured Replies

The drivers heated seat doesn't work on my 19 plate Titanium X.

Passenger seat is fine.

Car is currently in for annual service and MOT (which would fail - I need 2 new tyres due to cuts - probably a result of pot holes!).

I asked them to investigate the non-working seat, they report the element is fine, and probable wiring issue at the Climate Control Unit, or the CCU itself.

Anyone have any idea where I would find this? A circuit diagram would be useful!

Ford can only offer me tyres of a make I have never heard of so KwitFit here I come and an MOT at an independent garage that I have used for wife's and daughters cars for years.

KwitFit here I come.......seriously ? I wouldnt let those cowboys anywhere near my car, not the ones up here anyway.

Closest tyre place, tyres in stock.

They have done tyres for me before without problems, more than I can say about Halfords who stripped a locking nut.....

I don't think anyone outside Scotland knows what a Plook is🤭.

I've half lived in England for a while so I'll be the official interpreter, he means Spotty.

He was, and a poor communicator. He attempted to explain the readings from the tracking check..... which was totally different to the readings from last year, and nothing has been done to the tracking! Ford seem to think the tracking is well within spec.

Halfords are OK for tyres (convenient to me, and normally have the right tyres in stock), but not for anything else.

That should say KwikFit are OK for tyres. Wouldn't let Halfords touch a roller skate, let alone a car!

Does the light on the switch turn red when you switch it on, do you have three heat levels on the switch ?

Yes. Three lights, which behave as expected. Passenger seat is fine.

Garage (Ford) say there is no power to the seat heaters, and the heaters are not open circuit.

Their next step is to trace the wiring back to the Climate Control Unit, at least 2 hours labour.

Probably selling the car in the next few months, so if it isn't a quick fix, then I'll leave it (and it will be a trade-in for a new car - not Ford)

Tbh i wouldnt bother if your trading it in. I bet the dealer wont even check it anyway. Could the plug under seat be uncoupled ?

I've looked, can't see anything adrift. I would hope that if they found no power to the seat they would have checked that (I know, don't assume!!)

Could it be a blown fuse ? I dont know how they are wired up but id assume since it would be a fairly large current draw that it would be fused and through a relay.

One fuse for both seats - and it is intact!
