Focus Mk3 sony radio

Featured Replies

Does the sony unit have 2 connectors.

My sony in a mk3 focus stopped working.

The cd player has a cd in it and I couldn't turn it off until I unplugged the radio.

The hazard light button works and that's it. Central locking and all other buttons stopped working.

When I removed the unit there are was 1 big black plug and 2 rf plugs.

On the unit there is 2 slots for big black plugs I can only find one is there supposed to be two? And one has slipped down somewhere

Or is it just broken. Do you think I need to replace the front bit with all the buttons and the radio

The screen is displaying o.k

Thanks for any advice 🙏 ☺️

On the High level audio system and the Sony audio system (which is based on the high level audio system) both connectors of the ACM should be connected.

If the 2nd connector is missing it is highly likely that the car left the production line with the base low level audio system and someone installed the Sony audio system afterwards. The low level audio system has different/less wiring which explains the missing connector.

In that case there will also be functionality missing like for example Bluetooth, USB, etc.

Thanks for reply

It's a strange one because everything was working o.k it's a titanium x model.

It was stood for ages with a solar panel connected topping up the battery

I forgot about it and started the car. That was the last time it worked.

I have checked all the fuses.

I'm going to take the aircon control bit out so I can see if it's slipped down somewhere if it's not there I have seen the same unit on Ebay.

Well no extra connector anywhere so i purchased a secondhand radio centre console buttons, and the screen came as a package. Tried the radio first. This worked, although the centre console buttons weren't doing anything it displayed the radio stations. So i changed the centre console bittons bit, and yes, everything seems as though it's back to normal. As for any loss of bluetooth or anything, I will post after weekend when I get it all back together.

Well chuffed 😊 i could've spent a fortune on this.
