2006 S MAX Tyre Pressure Monitoring

Featured Replies

Is there a way to disable this?
I have the old type dash., seems it has fewer options.

Or change setpoints for alarm atleast?
Or trick the system to see wanted pressure in some way? the pressure reading is not correct as it is. so maybe someone has been in the system and done something before.
And a way to turn of the damn alarm noise? Before I had obd scanner connected and in that process deleted all DTC alarm and so, I had the alarm, but no noise/alarm beep when turning ignition/alarm getting active.

Also after obd process, I have Tyre Monitor malfunction, even if it looks to me its still monitoring.

From my understanding, Ford TPS have an internal battery that lasts for 7-9 years. If you start getting TPS issues, these batteries could be part their best.

From what I am told by a friend who had a similar issue last year, all 4 TPS sensors needed replaced as they are sealed for life (Ford Transit connect SWB).

I get the TPS service done when I get my tyres changed (seal and core I think), but still expect my 2017 SMax (now in that battery fail zone) so I am waiting for the dash to light up and bong me to death with warnings.

Sorry I can't help more on this. You might just need new sensors.

Yeah will see how  it goes, and what options there are when I get the forscan up and running. I really dont care about this option on the car. A work around would be easiest for me. Old car. And im not interested in using (in my opinion, cash better used elsewhere) on new sensors. Also tires need to come of and so on.

Can anyonee tell me what Module that reads the signal from the sensors? And where its located.

Looking at your photos, it appears that the right hand rear sensor is reading low (only 0.5BAR), compared to the other three.

I would start by getting that sensor changed, they aren't terribly expensive, and the tyre doesn't need completely removing (just the outside bead).

That is correct. But all the sensors are showing wrong pressure.

Point of note good sir, it is an MOT failure if a function of your car (TPS is one) does not work, or is missing. Not sure how the garage would mark it if the TPS light is on, but any fault light is a fail if I am not mistaken. Just one of those things that catch ppl out.

Hope you got it sorted.

That is true. But what I mean is that TPS is not a requirement until 2010 or what ever. and mine is a 2006 model. and if Its possible to remove the whole thing it would not be illegal in any way. at the moment it reads no pressure on any of the wheels. would be awesome to just delete the option with forscan

So apart from removing all of the hardware from the car and reprogramming the GEM, you would still need to remove the TPM sensors from each of the wheels. Would it not just be far easier to fit four new sensors ?

Your profile doesn't say what country your in, so difficult to advise on the rules where you live.

In the UK if a vehicle was built with TPMS but it's not a legal requirement for the vehicle to actually have it fitted (usually because of age), then the system can be legally disabled provided that all of the TPMS hardware is removed from the vehicle.

If the system is only disabled in the programming then the MOT tester must fail the vehicle for a non-working TPMS system if there is evidence of parts of the system still remaining.

I'm sure that @TomsFocus has posted the relevant MOT details some years ago, but at the moment I've not found his post.

Norway. I know of others have done the same, but on other brand of cars. No problem with MOT. Seems there are different regualtions in different countries, or they are interpreted diffrently.

For UK MOT, the tester won't be looking closely at the type of valves fitted.  If no TPMS lights show at all, it should be passed.

If a TPMS fault light shows, it should be failed.

MOT went ok. I asked the garage, and they said that as long as it does not give a red alarm, but a info message.
And also since car are from before TPMS was requirement. They did see this as a fault.

Different from country to country I guess :)
