MK2.5 Coil Spring Replacement. 350mm or 370?

Featured Replies

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

*TLDR - Got 2009 1.8 petrol Focus Zetec S with an exploded front coil spring and my options for a replacement seem to have varying lengths mainly around 350 to 370mm from after market brands.  I was hoping to know if someone knows the length of an OEM spring (which I'm struggling to find) or what would be a good length to stay as close to standard from an aftermarket product ?.*

I've done a load of looking, Ford sites not much help and there's conflicting information on forums regarding sports / handling suspension Vs Comfort - some say the Zetec and Zetec S are fitted with springs 15mm shorter where others say the only difference is between petrol and diesels.  So, I don't know if the 350mm are the right springs for the Zetec / S and the 370mm is for the Titanium and Style (that apparently has the comfort suspension).

I'm inclined to go with 370mm because I don't want the car sitting any lower than it currently is (and 20mm is hardly much difference) but I thought I'd ask here to get some advice if somebody knows.

Thanks 🙂

Hi being honest I don't know much about the mk2.5 but when I got coil springs in my mk2 changed the garage said they're colour coded and looked at the springs already on there then ordered the same colour. If this applies to your car too then ringing a few places asking for those colour springs might help. No idea if this helps you, but wish you the best of luck in fitting the right ones for you

The Zetec-S had sports suspension.

The Zetec didn't.

So I'd say you're 350

Have you not gone to Ford to see if you can still get them?

I would also recommend changing both
