Focus seat mount differences between mk2 and mk3

Featured Replies

First time poster here.

I did a search but only ST Recaros between various mk3 models were discussed, so I post a question. If this is already answered but I didn't find it, please let me know.

Got myself an 2006 mk2. The seats are not great. Even the wife is complaining. In my other car, I swapped in Recaro Style seats with the official Recaro mounting bracket. Costly but did fit without issues.

The mk3 Recaros from the ST aren't growing on trees, but are available. Is either the mounting rail compatible between mk2 and mk3, or at least the mounting points between the actual seat and the bottom frame/bracket of the seat? From the exploded view, looks very similar, but I've been wrong before.

Looking on the web it seems it is possible like I thought I’d read in the past but not found full details yet. Things to consider on top of the seat rails fitting your floor pan, is the electrical connector and wiring matching up for seat airbags, and heated seats etc depending on what features you already have.

Also they’ll not suit a 3-dr as there’s no tilt feature to access the rear seats plus maybe different rails mounting to the floor

No 3-door, regular station wagon. The electrical connections I have no problems with even if it would come to splicing or crimping to some other connector. The airbag however I do hope use some standardized connector.

Considering there are plenty of hits if I search for "focus mk2 uncomfortable seats", I can't be the first to have done this.

What's wrong with sourcing MK2 ST Recaro seats? Aren't they almost the same as MK3 Recaros??

Or is that what you already have? You don't say

I can't see why MK3 Recaros won't mount to MK2 Floor brackets
