fiesta mk7 can't turn off constant sidelights in forscan

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, how can i turn off the constant sidelights on the Fiesta MK7 2012 1.25L 60hp Canadian Scandinavian Spec?

with a help of some special device in the engine copartment fuse block i was able to make the independent DRLs "high beam at half power", almost like a H15-bulb based DRLs from mk7 facelift (if im right), now im very glad that the low beam bulbs stopped burning and now they will serve almost forever.

but the constant sidelights (of course with the rear and license plate lights) bother me, which cannot be turned off easily.
i dont like the solution from engineers in that way, because itself it looks weird, outdated and ridiculous for nowadays.
i almost charred the license lights bulb sockets after so many years.

well i found out that factory 70% low beam DRLs can be turned off without forscan by pulling out the DRL relay and the fuse related to it, wish i could do the same with sidelights.

- i tried to change several settings of the BCMii (Backup) and IPC (Main) related to lighting, i tried to Write and Write all, but it doesn't seem to give any effect on the car after.
- i tried to delete profiles
- i tried to find any information about disabling permanent sidelights on the internet mk7 fiesta related, but i couldn't

i use the latest version of forscan, maybe i need to get an old one?
i have an official license and i use Vlinker FD+ adapter.

Why pull fuses when you have FORSCan???

Deactivate Scandinavian mode in BCM, lights will work as Euro spec

Take a screenshot of options available in BCM if you are unsure.

Stop deleting profiles

Put fuses back in

....and there is the problem.

You can not make programming changes using a Bluetooth device.

FORScan only allows programming changes to be done using a hardwired connection like vLinker FS and a laptop running windows.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

I'll just leave this here...
BCMii errors are due to options I've changed, usually there is no errors as factory.
I don't understand why my car just hate forscan, i've already tried old versions of the program: 1.3.9 and 2.2.11 (not possible to configure modules), 2.3.5, 2.3.17 and 2.3.64 (the latest at the moment).

Download and load "factory AB" to your BCM and put the BCM back to factory.

Then configure daylight running light to none

I did reset to the BCM (backup) by loading the factory .ab file from Motorcraft, wrote it into the BCM and IPC (main), tried to set the DRL option to "not configured" on IPC main, tried to change the language of the cluster multimedia panel and rebooted the ACM module.
Everything is simply useless, no changes and nothing works. The car and its modules just live their own life 😞

And you did all of the above while using the vLinker FD+ dongle?

yeah, but it seems to me that there is no other choice than to just buy a wired vlinker fs usb one😐

i would like to establish the fact that if someone really managed to program with vLinker FD+ in Forscan and see changes on the car

I'm sure you can see the Debug Log, that might give you an idea whether the Adapter is the problem or not.

I did do that years ago but can't remember how at the moment.

The problem is not the vLinker FD+ dongle, the issue is that FORScan will NOT allow any programming changes to be made unless the windows laptop is connected to the car OBDII port via a hard wire cable, for example the vLinker FS.

Phone versions of FORScan are referred to as FORScan Lite. They can read all codes, they can clear service indicators and even reset DTC's but they can not make programming changes.

FORScan view the possibility of making programming changes using a WiFi or Bluetooth device as dangerous and have ensured that the programme is prohibited from making changes unless it is via a connected cable.

You can continue to use the vLinker FD+ dongle with either a mobile phone or even with a Windows laptop, but the ability to make programming changes will be inhibited by FORScan.

indeed, i bought a wired vlinker fs and now i can change the ipc module options that the car supports.

but i don't understand why i have different settings in the IPC module (as my pics below shows) than example legendary f150 (i know that this is a completely incorrect comparison) and some other ford cars at the similar years.

i would like to get the BCM settings as on the pic below, but i understand that it is more than impossible (miracles do not happen).

the drl settings are just poor, not only can i not turn off the constant sidelights (parking lights), i can't even choose the DRL lamp type and use front turns for example.

i'm a little disappointed🥸

could something like this happen on US spec 2012 cb1 fiestas? or did european ones (or specially with cheap equipment) got really such limited modules?
