Swapping reverse and fog light locations

Featured Replies

I've recently moved back to the UK from living in the Netherlands. I brought my focus with me and obviously need to change a few lights to make it UK legal so I can register it.
I've changed the headlights over (super easy). But I also have to swap the locations of the reverse light and the fog light. I know it will be easy to change the bulbs over but I'm not sure about what the best way is to change the wiring.

My best guess is either to run wire from the connections on the back of the light clusters, but this seems like more hassle than I want to take on. Or I'm hoping that swapping the wires on the back of the fuses might be easier. I've found the fuses but I'm looking for a bit of advice on if I'm doing the right thing or if I'm overlooking an easier way to achieve this.

Edit: probably worth adding, its an estate. so the lights are not in the bumper but in the light clusters

Any advice or input would be most welcome.

Think you’re going to struggle swapping feeds earlier in the system for the rear fogs and reverse lamp. Rear fog is fed directly from the headlamp switch in the dash, whereas the reverse lamp feeds from the passenger junction box. So not terminated close to each other, you’d still need extra wiring to swap things over.

Fuses are a non-starter - while there looks to be a reverse lamp fuse, it actually feeds the headlamp switch so goes to other circuits too.

Think pulling the terminals at the rear lamps and cross-wiring them to the opposite sides is the least painful option

I have to agree, this will be the easiest, quickest and least likely to cause any unexpected problems.

thanks for the reply's. never thought about where else the wiring might go from the fuses.

Guess running some wires at the back of the car will be my project this weekend.

Change the light units, bulbs and holder are the same, swap the pins over in the BCM, it will become RHD

Think the problem with that is the feed from the PJB is just the fused supply to both front and rear fog lamps circuits at the dash switch. You only get a specific rear fog lamp feed as output from the dash switch.
