1.0 eco boost

Featured Replies

Hi please can anyone help I have a 2012 1.0 eco boost. There’s very little power in first gear as soon as it starts to move then you change to Second gear  it’s totally fine no loss if power  I have checked all the hose I can see  and they seem ok.  I’m at a loss

Hi Bryan,

Your post is a bit confusing. If you change into 2nd as soon as the car starts moving how do you know there's no power in first?

If the car pulls well in 2nd and above it doesn't sound as if there's a lack of power.  At what speed and engine rpm are you changing into 2nd?

Hi sorry  full revs at stand still is maxed at 4000 rpm it takes full revs to move

it won’t go up hill but as soon as it does start to move down hill  and you change into second gear is totally fine full revs  no issues

I’ve had the car three years and no issues at all except had new gear linkages. Fitted 2 yrs ago

The rev limiter would limit the engine to 4000rpm while the car is not moving, so that is both normal and correct.

Sounds very much like the clutch is worn.

Nothing to do with the clutch had it checked  I thought it could bd an air pipe

It’s definitely power related

If you're 100% sure there are no signs of a clutch issue (e.g. increase in revs without increase in speed), there are all sorts of possibilities, some mentioned in earlier threads on here:

Just a thought, you say you've had the car 3 years. It was due a timing belt change then, was it done when you bought it or has it been done since? Various issues have been caused by disintegrating belts, some of which are mentioned in the threads linked.

Can belt was done last year at service

it just seems to have no power at 4000 rpms from moving off if it’s on a slight gradient

I’ve checked all the vacuum air pipes I’ve  just found this on the passenger side of the engine on the engine protector

any chance you know where it’s from as I can’t find anywhere that it should go just wondering if this could be it

I think it goes to the clutch. It’s the only  nipple I found  I fitted and guess what

it’s now back to normal.
Can’t believe that ?????  But thanks very much guys for all your help but I’m pretty sure that was what it was.
