Focus 2013 1.6 petrol bcm fault

Featured Replies

Morning brother in law has 2013 1.6 focus battery drain fault traced to washer pump bcm fault rotted pins in plug cars starts and runs ok only one etc for ignition bf10ff14   Have had 3 used bcm cloned by 2 different sources  when I fit cloned bcm car non start and has  dtc for no comm with abs crash data and various dtc and and module shows 3 dtc thethesevwont clear   I’ve ran out it ideas   Any thoughts much appreciated sorry about long post

Did the BCM's have the same part number as the original?

Evening yes identical part number can’t work out that original bcm has no dtc for abs module and no dtc for communication faults etc but the cloned bcm s have   Anyone with any ideas thanks

It may not be cloned correctly, download and install factory ASbuilt files for your BCM using FORScan

Or............used BCM is also faulty.

Wasn't this issue covered on a recall on early MK3s??

Morning thanks for taking time to reply I’ve tried 3 different bcm and had 2 different company’s clone them do you know if you can rewrite as built files to used bcm or would I have to buy a new one thanks

You can write the files to a new or used BCM, you also need to program the remote key function (not PATS)

Press load factory AB at the bottom of the page and it will download and adjust all the parameters back to factory, then click "write all"

Reset module, program RKE fobs and you should be good to go

Just to add,

If the water damage was severe, make sure there's no damage in the cables, water can trace up the cable and stop the power or signals from getting through

On the Focus MK3 the PCM, BCM and ABS module are all part of the PATS immobilizer system.

I suspect that the ABS related DTC codes are caused by the PATS system not being programmed correctly or not being programmed at all.

Sounds like they have not programmed in the vehicles VIN and the transponder chips for the keyfobs have not been programmed in.

You don't need to do that on a MK3 they're all independent.

You'll still have the same fault

Have you checked the wiring to/from the BCM for water damage??

Battery drain issue may not be a BCM issue, it may be somewhere else

The original bcm that still allows the car to run has a missing pin caused by washer pump problem I still can’t understand if I fit any of the cloned bcm  I’ve tried 4 different ones they all have the dtc communication faults that won’t clear  then if I refit original bcm this will now show numerous dtc but these will clear and let car run so if it did have a wiring fault surely the original bcm should have the same problem confused

As I've said.....

You seem to be going round in circles.

Options are:

  1. Get a good auto-electrician who knows what they are doing.
  2. Take it to a Ford dealer and pay the premium price and let them fix it.
  3. Scrap the car. Sell it as a non-runner.

Morning bit of a update decided to try and find cause of battery draw to try and see if it was definitely caused by bcm found 30 amp fuses 11 and 12 staying live in turn keeping relay 12 and relays k 79 and k 46 which are engine control relays alive  any thoughts on why much appreciated

Any thoughts thanks

Why don't you just send the original BCM away to a company who repairs them ?
