Ford Focus 2013 rear window trim fitting

Featured Replies

I am struggling to refit the window trim for the rear window. I caught it on a bag strap and it just pinged off. I thought it might clip back on to the metal fittings but when I press the trim against them they don't clip in. Does anyone have any idea how to fit this trim? Picture attached of the window with the trim missing.

Thanks in advance.

The metal fittings are part of the trim as far as I know. You need to remove them from the rubber seal and re-attach them to the trim. Then refit the trim with the fittings to the rubber seal.

These small side windows do not have a seperate trim or any other replaceable parts. Both the trim and chrome strip are part of the window assembly and officially cannot be removed or reinstalled.

If the chrome strip cannot be re-attached the only option may be to replace the entire side window.

Would there be an option to try using tiger seal or similar to try and refix the trim?

Would save the nuclear option of replacing the whole window

Personally I would try the following:

* Remove the metal clips from the rubber window trim.
* Attach the metal clips to the chrome strip.
* Install the chrome strip onto the rubber window trim.

If that also fails bonding the chrome strip in place will probably be the best (and easiest) solution.

Replacing the entire side window is a real pain because the window is bonded into the bodywork. Replacing the window is a specialist job since there is a high risk of damaging the bodywork when cutting out the old window.
