2017 Focus St-3 2.0 TDCI

Featured Replies

Just before Crimbo purchased this 2017 ST-3 with 24,000 miles on it - not my first rodeo as had a couple off these in the past including the diesel - this replacing a 2018 ST line x that vibrated above 60 mph due to the cylinder deactivation i couldn't live with

ANyway its a very tidy car as youd imagine with the low mileage - it had a wheel wobble above 40mph and i put it down to the cheap tyres that was on it - so i have changed them for some Bridgestone Turana 6 - still got the issue but seems to be through the car not just front or rear , they ve been rebalanced a couple off times .

It tends to do it on over run - ie been at 60 mph and let off accelerator and you feel the tremor through the car but does still do it when cruising

Took to local tyre refurb guy as they needed some cosmetic bits so got him to re do them and check to see if  straight / buckled - one was bent so this has been straightened - Still got the issue

I have just changed the front discs and pads to eliminate them

Any thoughts Peeps as dont want to keep guessing and keep replacing parts as starting to get expensive

PS its been into to Ford aswell for service who coudnt find anything

If it does it more on over-run, I'd be suspecting driveshafts/CV joints.  Very difficult to accurately determine when they're faulty unfortunately.

Might be worth swapping the rear engine mount first as that's a cheaper and easier part to change.  You could also upgrade it to a stiffer one to make sure there's no engine wobble masking as wheel wobble.
