Are you using a generic code reader ?

Generic code reader ???

Does the fuel level show on the dash?  Sounds like the wrong sender has been fitted or wiring to it been damaged.  Some engines won't attempt to start if they think there's no fuel.

These don't use the in-tank pump.  You wouldn't have to manually bleed them if they did.

Yes the fuel gauge is working , i was thinking something electrical but im lost when it gets past a blown fuse or bulbs etc i have a haynes manual for the car but the closest it gets to the sender unit is a pic of the plug but no sort of wiring diagram or explanation of which wire does what

That's strange.  Probably not that causing the non-start in that case.

There should be 4 wires to the unit.  2 thin ones for the gauge.  2 thicker ones for the pump.  But if the gauge works then that code sounds like a red herring.

Ideally you need Forscan to read the Ford specific codes.  Hence Unofix asking if you're just using basic OBD2 instead of Forscan.

General purpose / universal code reader. Not very accurate in getting the correct codes on a Ford vehicle.

Use FORScan to read Ford specific diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's).

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

That is the perfect description of a "Generic" code reader. Sounds like it could even be 'Carly' which, shall we say an expensive toy.
