Adapting connection on heater hose

Featured Replies

Good evening,

After being off the road for over a month due to struggling with parts and being messed about with poor quality/wrong parts I’ve finally gotten to the stage where I can put fluids back in the engine in order to flush the system, attempt to plug a leak and put put fresh coolant in and hopefully get back on the road.

However, when I reconnected the heater hose to the oil cooler its ***** out water, seems the crappy over engineered clamping system inside the hose has malfunctioned.

I’d prefer not to find/buy yet another part.

Is there a way to fix the problem without replacing the hoseI did try and remove the other end of it with no success.

I’m at the end of my tether, the car is cursed.

Would it be an option to cut the inner plastic housing away and use a jubilee clip to attach it?. The other hose next to it on the oil cooler is attached with a spring hose clip which isn’t giving me an issue

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Its a 16 year old car and I just need a couple of months out of it before treating it with a few litres of petrol and a pack of swan vestas.

Thanks, have a good evening.

Yes cut a working hose from a car in a scrappy, cut the clip and refit the end with a jubilee clip👍

Thanks for the reassurance Dave.

I realised the pipe would be too short to do this so I paid a visit to  a local hydraulic firm. They reckon they can knock me up a bit of hose with a spigot on it to connect into the existing pipe once the plastic bit has been cut off.

should cost about a tenner. Just need to measure the diameter now. Outer is doable but the inner, who knows. Other pipe on the cooler looks to be same size pipe but is held on with a spring clip which is also a pain to get back on but may have to tackle it to get the inside diameter.
