Running a wire though the bulkhead

Featured Replies

Can anyone help please.

What is the best way to running a towbar wire from the boot to the battery ford focus mk 3 bulkhead or is there a live in the boot fuse board I can link to,for the bypass relay please, thank you.

I would find a permanent or switched live (depending on what you need) in the fuse box using a piggy back fuse. Although I haven't done a towbar wiring, I wired up my dash cam this way.

Hi paterAnt again, just another question on the piggy back fuse please. Did you have to up the fuse Ampage when installing to the piggy back fuse, or can I use the fuse what come with the wiring kits.

A dash cam only needs a 3A fuse.

Hi unofix, thank for your message, good to know this, I've installed a towbar but was wondering when using a  piggy back fuse.will this be the same with a towbar wiring, using the fuse which came with towbar . thanks again.

A tow bar auxiliary supply will typically be either 20 or 25A depending on what is being powered. If the piggy back fuse tap was supplied with the tow bar wiring kit, then I would expect that it has been supplied with the correct value fuse.

The value of the fuse that you choose to plug the fuse tap in to, is completely irrelevant since the current for the original device with go through the original fuse once it has been relocated and placed in the fuse tap.

The fuse for my dashcam was included with the piggy back. I know nothing about tow bars, sorry.
