Backup Camera needed

Featured Replies

Hello to all, I have a 2912 Ford Focus 1.6tdci fitted with BVC This all works fine for me.

It has sat nav so that fine, I want to add a back up camera without going down a long expensive route of upgrading to Sync3

I did have an electrician came and fit one but after 3 visits he gave up without having any success!

Is this possible. Can anyone help with a 'How to'

I did buy and xtrons IXP92FSF unit Lovely big 9" screen, Reverse cam and Sat nav were good, Dab radio and others but sadly have not been able to map out the buttons for the phone functions.

Thanks for looking,

George.

Can't you just use the built in Flux Capacitor to aid in this issue? 😁

No, the OP hasn't got a 'Back up' so he's stuck in the future 🤣

Ok, so you've had your fun, now lets get down to a realistic solution.

Post a photo of the Ford entertainment system that your car has. Then we can probably give some options.

Just letting you know i'm back from the future.

Hi, I think I'm giving up with rhe xtrons unit, seems like the telphone and voice controns on the right hand padlle cannot be mapped.

I have the Factory fitted Ford Nav5" MFD LOW  AM5T18B955-DJ. It has all the bells and whistle with the exception of a reversing camera. It has all round parking sensors fitted.

I'm considering puting it back but would still like a cameras, Is rthere a simple solution without going to the expense of upgrading to sync or aftermarket kits.

Hopefully you have a solution for me.

Simple depends on what you are willing to do. The easiest option would be to get the wiring harness from a 2012 Focus that has the Ford factory fitted camera. Then you will be able to run the harness through from the front to the rear and using the original Ford camera from a 2012 model you can connect up. You will need to make some small programming changes using FORScan and that should be you all done.

There is just a slight chance that part of the camera wiring harness may already be installed in your car. If you look in the right rear wing behind the carpet/trim panel there may be a small grey square connector with 4 pins. Have a good look for it, they usually hide them well. If you can find it then you only need the harness that goes from the connector to the tailgate.

I had a wee look. Can't see a loose 4 way. If it's for the camera, I already ran a camera cable from the tailgate right through to the radio compartment. This worked well with the xtrons unit.

I doubt that a non-Ford camera will be plug 'n' play with that headset, but since you already have the camera and cable fitted then you can easy give it a try. It will be either the yellow or the blue fakra camera connector.

If you need an adapter they are available on Amazon or eBay.
