Ford Focus mk2 Rear Brake Shoe Retaining Pin Removal

Featured Replies

Hey all!  So I lost my brake pedal a bit last night and the handbrake pulls right up with only a slight hold on the rear shoes?  Any ideas before I open it up?  I did the shoes 25,000 ago.

Another question, while on topic.  How do you get the shoe retaining pins out (the ones nearest the rear of the car).  It looks like removing the hub still won't allow the pin to travel past the backplate?  Do I need to remove backplate also?

Any ideas how difficult that job is.  Doesn't appear to be in Haynes manual.

Any help, thanks in advance.

answering my own question here.  the spring plate that holds the adjuster from moving back the way has snapped off, meaning adjuster has wound right out and fallen into the bottom of the drum.  Limped home 100 miles like this!
