F12 Maps now available from Ford for Focus Sync 3 cars

I updated my 2017 Focus Sync 3 system software from the Ford UK website in November 2024, so now running Sync 3.0 Build 23219. At the same time the Ford website reported that a new map update was also available. But the download was only 47KB which is way too small. (Many other Ford owners have reported this same problem.) I tried the website several times since then and no change, always 47KB. However, this morning the download was 23.4GB which looks like a full set of F12 maps? I am installing them now and will report back later or tomorrow  with confirmation. Fingers crossed!

    Did it say F12 ?

    The latest are F13, but perhaps not for your model.

    My download is only a few dozen KB. But I haven't tried reinstalling the update yet. I thought I was the only one having this problem.

    Pleased to report that this download has updated my maps from F11 direct to the latest version F13, as predicted by unofix.

    Just downloaded sync3 maps F13 to USB stick. Times were:- zip file download on 900mb ultrafast internet was 2hrs 15 mins. Extract to 32gb USB stick 2 hours 45 minutes. Upload to car phase 1 (engine running all this time) was 35 mins. Phase 2 Upload (engines still running) another 45 minutes. Final key cycle update 5 minutes. Upload confirm file to Ford (goodness, it actually worked this year!!!) another 5 minutes. So total time of my life wasted just for a map update= all day. But at least it worked this time. Last year it took me 3 weeks to upload over the wifi!

    If only you had waited until this Friday when F14 maps are released. Never mind you can do it all again at the weekend 🤔

     

     

     

     

     

    Only kidding, F14 maps won't be out for at least another 5 years 🤣

    SYNC 3 updated its software via my home WIFI and then told me it had done so. I attempted to update the maps by the same method, but it was taking days and seemed to reset each time the car was left locked on the drive, so finally I decided to use a 64GB usb stick which didn't take very long during a drive to a distant supermarket and back. The photos give the results. The Ford website tells me that everything is now up to date.
