Adblue

Quick question for those of you with Adblue.  Have you ever seen or felt it coming out of the exhaust at idle?

Car alarm kept going off today, which I thought might mean the battery charge was low again already.  Started fine but did show a dash warning about "Low Battery - Drive To Charge".  Can't drive it so left it idling for a while.

Trying to find stuff to do while it was idling, I leant into the boot to check there was no damp around the spare wheel etc.  Within a few seconds my leg felt wet through my jeans.

On closer inspection there's a considerable amount of water coming out of the tail pipe.  Not enough to stream but enough to soak the floor and create a puddle.

Could just be condensation, but the same did not happen with the other car, in fact I can't recall seeing this with any other car I've had in the same place.  So I'm interested to know whether Adblue does get injected at idle after a while, or whether it's potentially coolant, or whether there's a design flaw trapping condensation in one of the boxes...

It's not a Focus, or even a Ford, but the Adblue system should be similar.

(And charging the battery didn't stop the alarm going off, so I'm none the wiser there either atm.  All doors, bonnet and boot show open and closed correctly.)

Quick answer is, no never.

As you know I have the Focus 2.0 EcoBlue and more recently the Ranger 2.0 EcoBlue. Both use Adblue, but it doesn't ever come out of the exhaust.

The Focus when cold and left to idle for 5 or 10 minutes does sometimes have quite an amount of water/condensation run out the exhaust. I've never noticed any condensation  from the Ranger.

My money would be that. My Petrol 1.5 almost always has visible white smoke, especially at this time of year and it hasn't lost a drop of Water since it was new.

Thanks all.  Seems like it's probably not a fault at least.  I couldn't see any steam directly, only when it condensed on the floor.  It was warm outside though.  It's also a hidden downturned tip, which might be exaggerating the issue.  Though I could feel damp on my hand just behind the bumper, which did not happen with the other car at the same time under the same conditions, with a straight tip.

We are getting extreme temperature variations here at the moment.  25c+ in the sun or behind glass during the day, then dropping to around freezing at night.  I thought that may be what was setting the alarm off the first time, but then it went off another 15-20 times over the course of the day.  It was windy, but again has never gone off that often in wind either.  It hasn't gone off again yet since turning off the interior scan/anti-lift last night.  So either was caused by weather, or potentially a faulty interior sensor.  First time I've ever used that button, had to get the handbook out to find it, first time I've opened the handbook in 7 years!
