Window tint alternatives

Featured Replies

So want anyone any experience with these Solarplexius panels?

I'm not a fan of actual window tint for various reasons but do like the alternatives.

In my old focus MK2.5 I had the car shades( although I think when I got them back then they the company was called van styles or van shades or something ...) blinds and they were brilliant and I still have them 14 years later admt why are still in brilliant shape and held up very well. For us they perform brilliant with the sun and keeping the rear temps a little cooler for the kids. I actually like the way they look on both the inside and out.

I was going tomorrow a set for the new MK3.5 but came across these other Solarplexius type so wanted to get any opinions if anyone had used these.

In my opinion the Solarplexius panels have one major disadvantage. Opening the rear windows is no longer possible. Well you can, but because the polycarbonate panels cover the entire window opening the rear windows has no effect.

Back in the days I used to have Privacy Shades/Car Shades in my old Focus MK2. The advantage of these is that because the mesh easily lets air through it is still possible to open the rear windows for ventilation.

On hot summer days I like to use the remote window opening feature to let the car cool down a bit before I enter the car. Once I am in the car I keep the rear windows open for a short period to let the car cool down quickly while the airconditioning is doing its job.

very good point, I think I will just go with the Car shades option as I like the look and practicality of these.
