Damaged lock cover replacement

Featured Replies

My daughter's car (Fiesta 1.2 2014) seems to have been victim of a half hearted break in and the chrome cover over the lock is now missing although, apart from a paint chip, there is not much more damage. The lock still works fine. I see that lock replacements are fairly straightforward but, if I change the lock completely I then have the hassle of swapping key blades over - and one of the keys is already a different type of fob with fixed blade.

I'm wondering if it is possible to pull off the chrome bit from a new lock and replace it on the old lock without too much hassle? I presume it would be a good idea to try to replace the cover to stop water and crud getting into the lock mechanism.

Ive also seen it is possible to swap the barrel out - so I guess that another option - if it is as easy as they make it look on YouTube!

Any advice?
