Wiring tech info about Android System on Ford Focus MK3 2012

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have recently bought from Ebay a Rimoody Android Car System for my car Ford Focus MK3 2012. I had the system installed and it works very well but there are some connections that I did not understand and they are not even explained in the manual and documentation received.
Please see the photos attached on this email.
I am contacting you to learn more about two aspects of the product:

1) There are 2 wires (see the photo KEY 1 + KEY 2 WIRES ON POWER CABLE) , where must they be connected to in order to use the steering wheel controls ?  I mean volume up, volume down, next track, previous track to be set like shown in the photo SETTING STEERING WHEEL.CONTROLS

2) There are 3 wires (see the photo GROUND + ILL + KEY WIRES ON ANDROID UNIT), where must they be connected to ? Are they responsible for the operation of the physical buttons located at the bottom of the frame? I am referring to the POWER, NAVI, HOME, BACK buttons.. (only the HAZARD WARNING KLIGHTS and LOCK/OPEN DOORS buttons are currently working)

Do you have some schematics and info useful to make them work ?

Key#1 normally means accessory power (Key position one)

Key#2 normally means ignition power (key position two)

Did you ever get the buttons working? I have a different model with four wires coming from the front panel, which I think are for the physical buttons, as they are not working.Screenshot_2025-07-02-20-38-37-685_com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.thumb.jpg.482ff49e6dd60b5669967a6ae437f466.jpg
