ib5 input shaft seal leak help

Featured Replies

Heyaaa!

ive always had a damp gearbox and a few weeks ago i took it out and changed the input shaft seal 2 times and it still leaks and i dont know if im putting it in wrong or not all the way or if the shaft is bent i dont know. it leaks from the input shaft itself not the outer edge of the seal. i bought a cheap one and then got the same ford oe match.

its just driven from birmingham to st ives and back in one day so it might be empty who knows but it made it (phew).

I really don't know, sorry.

But if the replacement has failed, then it means it was not installed correctly.

Try to find a rebuild manual for the box

A quick search on youtube found videos of how to do it

Are you certain it's the seal leaking and not the slave/release cylinder?

aw thats okay , ill try finding a manual . many thanks

im certain its the gear fluid, no brake fluid has been lost ever, and i got a additive in the fluid so it looks greyish and stands out in gear oil.
