2014 1.6 TDCI Focus EGR Fault

Hi everyone. I have a 2014 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI that had the engine malfunction warning and loss of power, it seems to idle a bit lumpy also. 

P042E is the code that's present. This indicates the EGR valve is stuck open.

I replaced the EGR valve but the fault is still present. With the sensor unplugged full power is restored but am EML is present. 

Can anyone recommend what to try next or has anyone encountered anything similar. I've cleared the fault numerous times after changing the EGR valve but it reappears. Any help appreciated.

    What EGR valve did you fit?

    Cheap Chinese copy or genuine Ford?

    Genuine from Ford 👍

    You should be able to recalibrate the EGR with FORScan.

    If that doesn't work, EGR was not the fault

    Have you read the fault codes? (using FORScan)
