Retrofit Dual Zone A/C to pre-facelift Focus Mk2

Featured Replies

Hey,

I've been looking to replace my Focus Mk2's dual zone climate control with that of the facelift models. As far as I know they're not directly compatible, so I'm looking to see if anyone has ever done it, and if so, what needed to be done. The only issue I'm seeing is that the fan speeds will be reversed.

I have attached a couple of pictures showing the different climate controls. The one with the twist dials is the facelift version, and the one I'm looking to upgrade to.

So far I have a bunch of options:

  • Retrofit the blower motor and the resistor as well (not sure if the resistor is necessary). If this can be done, I'd appreciate some advice (or part numbers) because I've been looking through eBay and sellers seem to market the parts as valid for all Focus Mk2 models.
  • Insert a circuit that reverses the PWM so that the fan speeds are alright.

If anyone has any other ideas, they're welcome as well. Any help is appreciated!
