DPF Software Update (PCM)

Featured Replies

Hi Just had a recall from fords to update software in regards to 2.0L Ecoblue Diesel vehicles may develop a crack in the (DPF).So took car in for update which was done then drove it to work that day only to have spanner coming up saying AWD fault and code reader showing ECU code.Is this a coincidence or not .

Your profile says you have a 2006 Focus so I doubt it will be an AWD model 🤣

Sounds like a corrupt software update.

Or they left it sat for hours with the ignition on or performed the update without putting it on power and your battery is now flat

Sorry Just updated my profile

Hi, We also had the recall letter and had the work done on the Friday. Driving back from the dealership we had an error flash up on the dash which we OKeyed and thought no more about it. The car sat on our drive over the weekend and whilst using it on the following Monday the spanner warning light came on followed by an array of error messages - AWD Malfunction service required, Hill Start Assist not available, Pre-collision Assist not available, ESC Service required, AWD off, Auto Hold System Malfunction. To be honest it was like Blackpool illuminations. We contacted the dealership who suggested that a dying battery may be the problem and booked it in for them to have a look at it. However after 2 hours of diagnostics by the dealership the root cause of the problem could not be identified and has now been referred to Ford Technical to investigate. This has now been with the Ford team for a week and a half with no positive resolution so far. This has left us car less and extremely frustrated that we took a car in perfect working order in to a dealership for the recall update and are now currently left with a dud. Like Arnie11's comments is it pure coincidence that the problems have manifested themselves straight after the recall update or has the software update totally corrupted the cars software ?

Charge the car battery for a minimum of 12 hours, longer if possible. Clear all the DTC's using FORScan and that should be it !! 👍

Hi, In our case would the Ford dealership not have checked the battery during their initial 2 hour diagnostic checks ? The car is still at the dealership therefore at the moment it is not an option for us to charge the battery but we can see that on the Ford Pass app that our car is currently in battery saving mode which would indicate a low battery.

Thanks

Perhaps, but if it took two hours to do diagnostic work (much coffee was drunk) then the battery would be flat by the time they finished.

Hi.  I have exact issues as David10 which came up yesterday while on holiday.  Will be trying to find a helpful dealer in France tomorrow but concerned that they impound the car and I am left stranded.   Any suggestions for me or anything l can pass on to them would be very welcome.  Cheers. Ian.

Hi, I've experienced the exact same issues! ESC service required, AWD fault and abs fault since the update. It's taken two months to get to the bottom of it as been waiting for an appointment at the garage. Did you get anywhere with yours? I've opened a case with Ford relationship centre after the recall however they didn't have this reported by many others - I've reported from the two forums I've come across with the same issues.
