Focus MK2.5 1.8 Petrol Idle/fueling problems

Featured Replies

Hi All, I'm new here but Google seems to be recommending this forum alot when I'm googling the problems I'm having with my car.

I have a 2009 MK2.5 1.8 petrol.

I'm getting a problem where when the car is moving if I dip the clutch and roll or roll in neutral the revs start hunting. Sometimes they fluctuate between 500 and 1000 tickover and sometimes it is much worse than this and causes the car to stall.

Strangely it seems like the problem is worse when I am rolling in neutral rather than in gear with the clutch down.

When I start the car and when the car is stationary the Idle seems fine

A couple of months ago I had a engine code pop up which pointed me in the direction of the vacuum solenoid control valves. These have been changed and the engine code has now gone.

Fuel economy is also bad. Seems to be getting about 26 mpg.

Any suggestions about how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.
