Mk2 Facelift GPS antenna + Base alternatives?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, so it seems the GPS antenna's base has suffered the same fate as many other GPS models in that its falling apart. To add to that the antenna itself is pretty much welded to the base so I can't take it through a carwash at all.

I've had a look around and cannot find any bases at all, only mk2 non GPS bases.

Do you know of any alternatives that I can get from ebay (UK) or a way around the issue?

Antenna is an American word and will reduce your search results when looking for a replacement Aerial.

There are a possible 5 (or more) aerials used on the 2010 Focus depending on the exact equipment installed. Below is a parts list of the different combinations of aerials and base mounts.

The Focus MK2/MK2.5 GPS aerial base was discontinued Years ago.

It was replaced by a repair kit that contains a separate GPS antenna, a normal aerial base + aerial and wiring (the normal aerial base is not compatible with the existing GPS aerial base wiring).

This repair kit however is quite expensive from Ford. It is much cheaper to install an aftermarket GPS antenna and a normal aerial base + aerial and wiring (these can also be found aftermarket).

Since almost all of these GPS aerial bases suffer from the exact same deterioration problem finding a good condition used one is a big challenge.

As an alternative companies like for example Paintmodz offers covers to restore the existing aerial base.

If the existing GPS antenna is still working fine and you can manage to remove the old aerial installing a cover and a new aerial will be the easiest and most cost effective solution.
