Focus ST mk4.5 25 plate chimes and bongs

Featured Replies

Hello

Got a weird query here. Only had this car a few months and I've managed to convince myself my chimes etc when driving are too quiet and not coming from the right places. When parking, front and rear sensors all beep from the dashboard area. I'm sure they're supposed to come from the area so when reversing should come from the rear speakers. Also my overspeed chime is really quiet to the point where I can barely hear it if the radio is up. Yes I usually turn it off but I'm sure given it's a safety thing I shouldnt be able to drown it out which is my I'm convinced something is confused somewhere.

Would anyone with the same car be able to let me know what yours sound like? I had a 72 mk4.5 at line X previously and I'm sure the parking beeps were louder and more "informative". I'm pretty sure it started off ok in this car and has now changed as if it's the fallback speaker in the dashboard.

The whole instrument panel software is different from my old one so I think to be most representative if anyone has the most recent IPC software where you can change the dials between modern and classic. I'm not sure if that's just an ST thing as I didnt have that option on my 72 plate MK4.5 so I suppose it could be because it's different software. But maybe not.

Appreciate any help to confirm my sanity !

I've only had it 2 months and have had no battery warnings

Can't always rely on that in my experience. Check the battery voltage yourself with a multimeter.

  • 1 month later...

Just to echo that I've experienced exactly what you've described.

My rear sensor beeps will emit from the rear speakers (as expected) but occasionally I hear the beeps from the front console (not expected).

I've only managed to associate the behaviour with low battery voltage
