Sync 3 display pulsing on and off . Focus Mk 3

For a couple of weeks now, my display screen has been pulsing on(1 second) and off (3 seconds). This is continuous and doesn't affect the radio or anything else.

The only time the display becomes normal is if the temperature exceeds 26 degrees!

Any ideas as th what's happened?

    The back lighting of the LCD screen is failing. The whole screen needs to be replaced. 🙁
