Alarm System Issues

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been covered but I'm struggling to find any information online. I'm hoping someone has had a similar issue and can point me in the right direction regards a fix.

I have a 2015 Ford Focus Titanium 2.0 TDCI 150bhp (fitted with a battery back-up sounder from factory).

My alarm will go off at random times but all that'll trigger is a quieter than normal siren, no hazards, no horn. The alarm will shut off when I unlock the car using the fob.

I've tested the interior ultrasonic sensors and they work fine and trigger the alarm to what I'd call a normal alarm loudness with hazard lights but no horn, so maybe the no horn part is just normal.

The alarm trigger history on my Autel (unfortunately I don't have ForScan) states the only causes for the alarm going off have been ultrasonic sensor activations and start attempts (I'm assuming from when I had a dead battery every day a few months ago) but no date/time information is available.

I can't find much information regarding the battery back-up sounder unit other than it contains a non-replaceable battery and can go bad after a while, mine being 10 years old now, or have issues due to water ingress.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

You already know what the next step should be 🤔

With the use of FORScan, then it possible that you will see Ford specific DTC's and Alarm activations. You could try as a test just turning off the ultrasonic detection in your instrument cluster setting and see if the problem stops.

The alarm sounder with built in battery may be at the end of it's life, but it's an expensive item to replace with out doing some tests first.

Thank you 🙂

I will look at getting FORScan on my laptop and switching the system to reduced guard also.

Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that!

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

For diagnostic use only:
