Focus mk 3 2 ltr1. Rough Idle . 2 . Temp incorrect? 3 . MPG

Featured Replies

Hi ,

got a couple of issues to ask about and if anyone has had these on focus 2012 2 ltr titanium diesel:

1 . In the colder weather , when car starts it idles lumpy , runs ok just lumpy idle . if i run for 10 mins , go in to a shop and come back 10 mins later it idles ok .

2. What temp should my car run at in gerneral drving condiitions? It is usually at 75 degrees or less , even after running for 40 minutes , sitting in traffic etc . Occasionally it will go halfay on the gauge and stay there and runs / feels a lot happier .

3. What sort of MPG should i expect , not driving miss Daisy but not redlining any where.

Any insight to the above issues would be much appreciated .

Thanks ,

David.

Hi,

1. Glowplugs are probably worn out

2. 75c is fine around town.  Should go up to 90c on a fast cruise or in summer heat.  May benefit from a new thermostat, but don't expect these to sit at 90c all the time.

3. 40-45mpg average on 2.0 TDCI.
