Wet belt replacement

Featured Replies

Looking  for advice I'm in Glasgow  have to change the wetbelt on my 67 plate 1.0 ecoboost ford focus, it has only 52,000 on tbe clock its recommended 150 000 miles or 10 years to replace, looking for advice and reasonable prices, any recommendations of who can do it cheers John

The sooner you do it the safer, look at countless threads on here, the wetbelt usually starts failing way before the interval. In terms of cost, my mum's ecoboost fiesta had its belt done last year and cost her £990 to do from our local garage who would do it but many garages still don't want to touch wetbelt engines.

I had mine done at Ford last year. 10 years old & only 34,000 miles. They offered it me for £1,000 as a discount as they know the issue so... I'd go to Ford as they're now using a different toughened belt apparently, though it was a few weeks for them to get hold of the new belts.

Both belts need changing, the timing belt & the oil pressure belt - some garages only do one & it doesn't solve the issue.

That's interesting. Was that offer from Ford themselves or the dealer?

If Ford dealers were normally quoting £1000 instead of double that (and more) as many have reported, I guess a lot of people would prefer to go there!
