My car keeps saying it's on 

And its been sitting out the house for 4 hrs

    As a rule, the app is very accurate as long as it can retrieve the data back from the car.

    When the app is open, it starts a communication link via WiFi or the inbuilt modem if applicable.

    if you have a car, with no inbuilt modem or sync is  not connected to wifi, then the app will be incorrect.

    Ensure the app is set correctly as well the latest version.

    Ford are updating the app on a regular basis.

    I use the app all the time just it was saying the car was on when it wasnt
