Mk8.5 fiesta st spec

Featured Replies

Just swapped from a mk8 fiesta st line to a mk8.5 st, never realised how many things have been removed within the spec of the car. No folding mirrors, no heated mirrors, no one touch windows, no lights in cup holders, no lights in sun visors, no total closure windows, would have thought Ford would have done a better job with the last ever fiesta, all these little things take away from the car slightly, none massively essential but were nice to have, is this the same on all the mk8.5 fiestas or just the st? Can the bits be put back on the car or is it massively hard work, wiring, modules etc

thanks

Think yourself lucky you got the ST.

Steering wheel and drivers seat was made an option on the other models 🤣

Yes and yes, basically.

Presumably you didn't read this thread before buying:

The seats are good, though!😀

I had exactly the same experience, went from Mk. 8 to 8.5 Fiesta ST. Was very disappointed by all the cost cutting, and general cheap feel to the 8.5 even down to the rubber hand brake handle. The only saving graces were the Ford Performance seats and reversing camera, but on balance if I’d known in hindsight I wouldn’t have ‘upgraded’ to the 8.5. Have switched to Puma now, which happily has all the features that were present on the Mk. 8 Fiesta. Perhaps that’s Ford’s new strategy making you get the next model up in their lineup in order to retain the features that you already had in your previous car 😂

Except the 1.5 engine and manual box in the case of the ST, though.

Admittedly not on mine, although other pre-facelift Pumas do have that engine / transmission combo.

Indeed they do, but you can't get one now. They'd probably prefer buyers to go for the EV version!😀

What type of handbrake handle does the Puma get?  Always hated the stubby rubber thing on Mk2 Focus, why fit that alongside lovely smooth leather on the steering wheel & gearknob!? 🤔  Can't believe they were still fitting an equivalent to Fiesta post 2020!

(Then again, I was expecting the Puma to get EPB so no need for a lever at all.)

It used to be a nice stitched leather handle with "chrome" trim, as also fitted to earlier Fiesta STs. Several Mk 8.5 ST owners have retrofitted one.

From what I've seen though, the facelift cars get the same rubbery job as the Mk 8.5 Fiesta, as visible in the pics in this review:

Oh dear.  The auto-shifter looks rubbery as well in that picture.  Also noticed '0.9 thousand rpm' on the digital dash.  Surely no-one has ever said it like that?

I know I'm pretty old fashioned, but one of the minor pleasures of driving used to be watching the needle sweep round the rev counter (which not all cars had, of course).

The previous iteration of the digital cluster did at least have a semblance of a tachometer alongside the fairly pointless (largely uncalibrated) speedo dial. Still preferred the analogue version though.

This sort of thing is fine for an EV of course.
