Fusion rear bumper not aligned

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I picked up a 2006 for fusion 1.4 petrol yesterday and am looking for some advice

As attached in images, the rear bumper on passenger side has a gap. Any idea what's going on here? It's not loose

Also the front grille that's attached to the bonnet is loose, the tabs on the side of the grille have snapped. I've looked for replacement grilles but none of them seem to have these tabs. Is there a additional bracket or something that the grille connects to?

It's had a bump.

Remove bumper and see what missing or smashed underneath

Front grille gets broken because people lift the bonnet on the plastic, rather than the steel of the bonnet !  S/H replacements may already have the tabs  broken off !  If you do remove the rear bumper to investigate, if you get the proper rivets, you will need a Lazy Tongs to fit the new rivets.

Hi, yes looks like it's had a bump, the side of the bumper just "clicks" into a plastic bracket to the side of the car, if the bracket is broken you can get one from the scrap yard for a couple of quid, but they are pop rivet fixed to the car.

If you apply pressure first to see if it will click back in place.

The bumper is easy to remove, but there are 4 odd capsulated pop rivets on the tailgate area.

The front grill always breaks, it's just a poor design, mine was held in with just 2 self tapping screws.

I took mine apart & rebuilt it, it's very strong now, but I open the bonnet to the side of the grill, I did buy a spare but it was the wrong type, it had no chrome trim.

Don't be put off, these cars are fixable with a bag of knackered spanners, I've completely rebuilt mine, it's now super mint.

Hi, a few pics of my rear bumper, removal, zoom in on one of the pictures & you'll see the bracket

Mine had a car park bump, but no damage, parts for these a very cheap.
