Ford focus 2006 1.6tdci crank shaft sensor replacement

Featured Replies

I'm trying to replace the crank sensor on a 1.6 tdci. On youtube it looks like you just remove one 10mm bolt and it comes off.

However, the sensor end of mine appears to sit behind a cover that prevents you pulling it out - and that's sitting behind the crank pulley and therefore doesn't look very simple to remove.

Any suggestions? Do I just need to twist the sensor in a particular direction or have the crank sat at TDC etc.

Thanks in advance

Think I've just found the answer on French youtube!

Looks like I have to remove one 7mm bolt on the engine front cover to give more clearance

Footnote, there's still very little clearance when you slacken the 7mm bolt that holds the cover that sits behind the crank pulley. In the end I ground a bit off the rear of the new sensor (the plastic) to get it to fit. All good now though
